Kelley Langhans

Kelley is a PhD student at Stanford’s Department of Biology and the Center for Conservation Biology. She is studying conservation in human-impacted landscapes, from farms to cities, and how preserving ecosystems can benefit both people and biodiversity. Kelley is interested in working with local communities and the government in Costa Rica to understand how ecosystem restoration can be practically achieved. She also plans to study benefits of and access to urban nature in the Bay Area. Her goal in her PhD is to perform research that has a concrete practical outcome, and considers people and issues of equity as an integral part of conservation. She earned her BA in Biology at Swarthmore College, and previously worked in the Helmus and Behm lab at Temple University.
