PhD Candidate

Priscilla San Juan

(co-advised by Tadashi Fukami)

Priscilla is a PhD candidate in Tadashi Fukami’s laboratory, studying what shapes host-associated microbial communities in wildlife. She is particularly interested in determining how human influences, such as land use change, captivity, and spread of infectious diseases, impact animal health through modification of microbiome diversity and composition. To investigate these factors, she integrates field, molecular, and computational methods. She hopes to apply microbiome research in conservation and management of species. Priscilla holds a BA in Environmental Sciences and Minor in Global Sustainability from the University of California, Irvine.
